Lokalne vlasti u Istanbulu brinu o životinjama na ulicama i parkovima i u jeku globalne pandemije COVID-19 tokom koje su zatvoreni ugostiteljski objekti, a ljudi na ulice izlaze samo u slučaju prijeke potrebe, javlja Anadolu Agency (AA).
Koronavirus je za nekoliko sedmica prerastao u globalnu pandemiju zbog koje su milioni ljudi prinuđeni da ostanu u kućama, a to se negativno odražava i na životinje u gradovima koje sve teže dolaze do hrane.
Nadležne službe u istanbulskim opštinama ostavljaju hranu i vodu u brojnim parkovima i dvorištima koja su okupljališta uličnih pasa i mačaka širom grada na Bosforu.

Veterinarska stanica u općini Buyukcekmece redovno ostavlja hranu i vodu za životinje u parkovima i na ulicama, a po potrebi zbrinjavaju i bolesne životinje.
Načelnik te općine Hasan Akgun kazao da je da pandemija koronavirusa nije samo pogodila ljude, već i životinje širom svijeta koje ne smijemo zaboraviti.
Sličnu praksu ima i Veterinarska stanica u općini Kartal. Načelnik Gokhan Yuksel poručio je da mjere borbe protiv širenja koronavirusa nisu spriječile brigu o životinjama u tom mjestu.
I pćina Fatih osigurava hranu i vodu za životinje na nekoliko desetina lokacija, što je naišlo na odobravanje zaljubljenika u životinje koji zbog pandemije nisu u mogućnosti da se lično brinu za njih.
U centru Yedikule u općini Fatih nadležni timovi i volonteri brinu o nekoliko hiljada pasa lutalica.
